Digital Storytelling

January 20, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Gather your stories! Prepare to share! Digital stories are short multi-media personal narratives produced in a participatory workshop. You will be guided through the process of conceiving of, vetting and producing your own stories.  Digital storytelling workshops cultivate conditions for story-sharing that empower emergent storytellers and inspire self-reflection in dialogue with others.

The power of the digital story is in its "unvarnished" beauty, its meaning to the storyteller, the relationships it illuminates, and its ability to resonate with others. These short pieces consistently inspire dialogue among workshop participants, as well as among storytellers and their intended audiences.

Join us for this hands-on workshop that will explore digital storytelling as a narrative approach to catalyzing work within community and offer a chance for participants to get their feet wet...experience a story circle, delve into storywork and practice production by creating a simple digital story piece.

This workshop will study two very different electronic hardware products, the iTrip radio transmitter and littleBits modules, and exercise two different workshop curricula which extend these products’ reach in both classrooms and studios.
