Earl Swift wrote for newspapers in Saint Louis, Anchorage, and Norfolk, Virginia. He is the author of five books of narrative nonfiction, including Auto Biography: A Classic Car, An Outlaw Motorhead, and 57 Years of the American Dream (itBooks 2014), an outgrowth of his Goucher thesis. He has been a Fulbright fellow to New Zealand, and is now a residential fellow of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities at the University of Virginia.
