Special Education for Certified Teachers, Master of Education

The purpose of this cohort is to provide general educators the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality instruction and support for all students, especially those with special needs. Special education students are included in all classrooms and need to be an integral part of all general education programs. This 36 credit master of education program will focus on instruction in the written, taught, and assessed curriculum that general educators need to help special education students meet standards.

Program emphases will include the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards, assessment including the PARCC accommodations, implementing Universal Design for Learning through technology, and Response to Intervention. This degree program prepares certified teachers to pass the special education Praxis II examination qualifying them for special education certification. 


Tuition Per Credit $325, plus $60 registration fee
Student Out-of-Pocket Tuition Costs Per Credit $75 tuition per credit, plus $60 registration fee per credit
