Master of Art in Teaching

  • Completed application with application fee and essay*
  • Official transcripts of undergraduate and (if applicable) graduate work
  • Two letters of recommendation (PDF)
  • Passing scores on PRAXIS 1 as defined by MSDE
    • Applicants who have not taken the PRAXIS 1 maybe submit one of the following: SAT scores of 1100 or better from 1995 to present; a combined score of 1000 prior to 1994; ACT score of 24; GRE composite of 1000

Master of Education and Post-Master's Professional Development Certificates

  • Completed application with application fee and essay*
  • Official transcripts of undergraduate and (if applicable) graduate work
  • Two letters of recommendation (PDF) (only one letter of recommendation is required for Post-Master's Professional Development Candidates

County Cohort Master's and Post-Master's Professional Development Certificate Programs

Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Cecil County and Harford County only

  • Completed application (no application fee or essay is required for county cohort students)
  • Official transcripts of undergraduate or graduate work; program dependent
  • Two letters of recommendation (PDF) (only one letter of recommendation is required for Post-Master's Professional Development Candidates

Please write an essay of two to three double-spaced pages discussing one of the following:

  1. What are your professional goals, and how will this program help you achieve them?
  2. Write a brief autobiography highlighting the experiences, which have been important in shaping your goals.
  3. What do you think is the most significant problem in education today? How would you recommend alleviating this problem?
