Lisa Weiss

ProfessorMusic

Lisa Weiss is Professor of Music at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. She made her debut as a pianist soloist with the Boston Pops at age 7. She completed her doctorate at the Peabody Conservatory, where she focused on the late, rarely performed piano music of Robert Schumann. Prior to her arrival at Goucher in 1986, she was a resident music tutor at Harvard University’s Dunster House and also taught private piano on a freelance basis. She has also previously served on the piano faculties of Smith College and at Philips Exeter Academy. At Goucher College, she teaches a broad range of courses that address the performance aspect of the music major, including opera, musical theater, chamber music, and solo piano. She is an active solo and chamber music performer as well as vocal accompanist. Ms. Weiss was the recent recipient of Goucher’s Todd Professorship, which has enabled her to pursue many creative pursuits. She received her M.A. in Creative Writing (fiction) from Lesley University in 2015 and has published in The Kentucky Review and Story Shack. She regularly engages in collaborations that include dance, visual art (some of it her own), text and music. She also composes music.
