Computer Requirements

The following are the recommendations for student computers connected to the Goucher College network.

PC Laptop or Workstation

• Recommended Operating System: Windows Vista/7
• Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP/Vista/7
• Minimum Operating System: Windows XP
• Operating Systems no longer supported or compatible with the campus network: Windows for Workgroups 3.1, Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000
• Operating Systems with limited supported at this time: Linux/UNIX
• Optimal Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
• Optimal Memory: 2 GB of RAM
• Minimum Hardware: Intel Pentium IV processor
• Minimum Memory: 256 MB of RAM

Apple Laptop or Workstation

• Recommended Operating System: Mac OS 10.5
• Supported Operating Systems: Mac OS 10.3 or higher
• Minimum Operating System: Mac OS 10.3
• Operating Systems no longer supported or compatible with the campus network: Any version of Classic Mac OS including Mac OS 8 and Mac OS 9. Early versions of Mac OS X including Mac OS X Public Beta and Mac OS X 10.1.
• Optimal Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
• Optimal Memory: 2 GB of RAM
• Minimum Hardware: PowerPC G5
• Minimum Memory: 256 MB of RAM

Software

• NOTE: Goucher College provides full-time undergraduate and Post Bac students with Microsoft Office software for PC and Apple Workstations. Microsoft Office software includes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook (or Entourage for Macs), and Publisher.
