Kim O'Connell (MAHP 2006) published "The Trouble with Church Preservation" in the November 29, 2011 issue of Atlantic Cities Place Matters. The article explores the debate about the rights of religious organizations to control their properties versus the rights of communities to preserve and protect these historic and architecturally significant buildings. Kim also published "Repairing Windows Can beat replacing" for the January 12, 2012 issue of The Washington Times.
Diane James (MAHP 2004) published Shared Walls: Seattle Apartment Buildings 1900 - 1939 (McFarland & Company). The book explores the explosive growth of apartment buildings in Seattle Washington from the beginning of the twentieth century, when there were only four in the entire city, until immediately prior to World War II, when over 1400 existed.
Ann Sharley-Hubbard (MAHP 2009) recently completed a number of projects this year including evaluation of the modernist Burke Museum on the campus of the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington recording a bridge in Juneau, Alaska, and recording a dairy in Orofino, Idaho.
Genie Cooper (MAHP 2004) recently completed a historic structures report on Battle Hall, the former main library, University of Texas at Austin. Designed by Minnesota based architect Cass Gilbert in the Spanish Mediterranean Revival style, the building was decorated by noted American artist Elmer Garnsey.
