Koenig's Paper Aids Missouri City in Developing Preservation Plan
Release date: March 24, 2010
Chris Koenig, a student in the MAHP program at Goucher, developed a preservation plan for Jefferson City, Missouri, as part of a class in Preservation Planning. This paper helped the city's Historic Preservation Commission create an historic preservation plan. Ralph Bray, Jefferson City's preservation commission chairman, said, "Every certified local government needs a preservation plan."
"I learned quickly that Jefferson City was decades behind in effective preservation planning, especially in comparison to other cities statewide with the same population," said Koenig. He believes that a preservation plan "is long overdue, and we need to live up to our city slogan of 'You'll feel the history.'"
