Environmental Justice Scholar
This scholarship is for graduate students who are passionate about environmental justice, activism and grassroots community organizing. Scholars who receive this award will demonstrate a commitment to supporting disadvantaged communities in crafting strategies for community engagement and social action to advocate for equal protection from environmental hazards and equal access to environmental benefits like clean water and green space.
Community Impact Scholar
This scholarship is for graduate students who are passionate about engaging & facilitating the participation of community members in addressing local adaptive challenges to environmental issues, designing strategic interventions, and making positive social change. Scholars who receive this award will demonstrate a commitment to community-based environmental actions that create more livable and sustainable communities.
Environmental Governance Scholar
This scholarship is for graduate students who want to make an impact by working with institutions, policies, regulations, and decision-makings processes that affect the environment. Scholars who receive this award will demonstrate an interest in coordinating stakeholder interests around environmental sustainability, resilience and management.
This scholarship is for graduate students who are passionate about environmental, wildlife, or energy conservation. Scholars who receive this award demonstrate a commitment to finding practical solutions to conservation issues by applying political, economic, communications, psychological, or community strategies to shape human behaviors in support of conservation efforts.
This scholarship is for graduate students who are passionate about developing green products, technologies, services, and solutions to address environmental and natural resource problems. This is for students who are interested in using the tools of business to also promote social responsibility and the public good.
Environmental Multimedia Scholar
This scholarship is for graduate students who want to have environment al impacts through the use of multimedia tools. Scholars who receive this award will demonstrate an interest and responsibility in influencing public opinion and in shaping behavior through different modes of communication.
Global Sustainability Scholar
This scholarship is for graduate students who speak two or more languages and can demonstrate their global experiences and mind-set. This award is for students who are planning on working on international environmental issues.
Amount Awarded per Scholarship
Up to $2,000 ($500 per term).
Duration of the Award
Four semesters for students enrolled just in the MA in Environmental Studies Program. Students in approved dual degree programs will continue to receive their scholarships for the maximum number of allowable semesters (not to exceed 8 semesters).
Recipients must remain enrolled in the MA in Environmental Studies program and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2. Failure to remain in good standing will terminate the award.
Scholarship recipients must register for at least part-time status each term (at least 4.5 credits) to be eligible. Registration is verified at the end of the college's Drop/Add period. Students who take an approved Leave of Absence from the college are eligible to have their scholarship reinstated upon their return (they must have an overall GPA of at least 3.2). The semester(s) students are on an Official Leave will not count against total scholarship eligibility.
Applications are reviewed prior to program start. Scholarship decisions will be made by May 25th.
This scholarship is for graduate students who would like to be considered for an emergency fund dispersal who have proven financial need or who find themselves in a sudden or unexpected financial crisis. To be considered for this one-time award students must explain their financial need or crisis. All information provided will be kept in the strictest confidence. Students may apply for this at any time during the year, and funds cannot be used on balances from a prior semester. The maximum amount of this scholarship is $1000.
