TRANSDISCIPLINARY LITERACY STRATEGIES FOR CONTENT LEARNING

WHY A MASTER'S DEGREE IN TRANSDISCIPLINARY LITERACY STRATEGIES FOR CONTENT TEACHERS?

Goucher College Graduate Programs in Education has created a new area of specialization in the M.Ed. program focused on Literacy Strategies for Content Learning. The new specialization is designed to address the Common Core State Standards and empower all teachers to use proven, effective, reading-writing-listening-speaking-thinking strategies to improve student performance in the content they teach. This program is not designed to prepare teachers to be teachers of reading and writing; rather, it is designed specifically to meet the goal of content teachers to help students learn the content they teach! Strategies presented in this program can be used to help students read, write and think like scientists, historians and mathematicians etc. as well as listen and speak as competent learners in any area of study.

• 36 total credits to complete master's degree

• 4 years plus one semester to complete program

• Only $125 per credit total out of pocket costs ($75 per credit tuition co-pay and $50 per credit registration fee)

To apply, complete the attached cohort application/registration form and return it to the address below with a copy of your teacher certification, or a transcript from your most recently completed undergraduate or graduate course of study.
