Special Education for Certified Teachers, Professional Development Certificate
A Post-Master's Cohort Designed for BCPS Teachers
The purpose of this cohort is to provide general educators the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality instruction and support for all students, especially those with special needs. Special education students are included in all classrooms and need to be an integral part of all general education programs. This 22 credit post-master's certificate program will focus on instruction in the written, taught, and assessed curriculum that general educators need to help special education students meet standards.
Program emphases will include the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards (formerly Maryland Common Core Standards); assessments, including the PARCC accommodations; implementation of Universal Design for Learning through technology; and Response to Intervention. This certificate program prepares certified teachers to pass the special education Praxis II examination qualifying them for special education certification.

This cohort is available to the first 20 students to apply and be accepted. To apply, complete the cohort application/registration form and return it to the address below with a copy of your teacher certification and a transcript from your earned master's degree.
