What are the Digital Arts at Goucher College?

Goucher's Digital Arts graduate program is the only program of its kind in the nation. Our multidisciplinary program treats music, animation, design, computer programming, web development, entrepreneurship, new media studies, and other related fields as one larger convergent discipline.

Pulling together practical technical knowledge with theory, a graduate degree in Digital Arts from Goucher combines your talent and creative energy with the opportunity to connect with working artists across disciplines. We help you channel your creative talent and energy, further develop your fluency in multimedia, and craft a meaningful and creative career.  We offer a Master of Arts (MA) and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Digital Arts.

If you want to build your career as a digital art professional but refuse to be boxed in by old disciplinary boundaries; if you believe business acumen is as essential to success as delving into the depths of your creativity; if you can see that digital tools are the means to deepening your work; then Goucher's Digital Arts programs are for you.

  • Goucher’s distance learning, limited-residency format is what makes us unique. Not only are online classes convenient for our students, but they also allow us to draw on the best faculty from around the world. But it's the residencies that are really special, providing a forum for intensive face-to-face collaboration and camaraderie in an atmosphere of rigorous learning.

  • Our distinguished faculty bring years of experience to inspire you, help you generate new ideas, and refine your existing ideas into a polished final product-a real-world marketable portfolio that showcases your passion, creativity, and skills.

  • During your time in the Digital Arts program, you will attend important events in the digital-arts world and meet influential people in your field who can help you advance creatively and professionally. This kind of  networking and connection-building isn’t merely an add-on-it is built into the program.
