Who can attend as an exchange student

Direct Exchange

Students from partner universities with established agreements may apply through their home institution to spend a semester or a year at Goucher.  Our partner institutions include:

  • Aoyama Gakuin University
  • Kwansei Gakuin University
  • Lingnan University
  • Pai Chai University
  • University of East Anglia
  • University of Roehampton
  • University of the Sunshine Coast

International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)

Students who are at ISEP member institutions can request to be place at Goucher.

Placements Through ISEP, UGRAD Pakistan, and Thomas Jefferson Scholarship Program

Congratulations on your placement at Goucher College!   We look forward to welcoming you to campus.  

Students Placed Through ISEP

We will receive a copy of your application, course preferences, and transcripts through the ISEP portal.  After students are placed at Goucher, they will receive an email from Goucher requesting them to complete an "application." (This will insert your information into our campus systems). 

Further instructions about course registration, housing, immunizations, arrival and orientation will be emailed periodically prior to arrival.

Students Placed Through UGRAD Pakistan and Thomas Jefferson Scholarship Program for Tunisia

We will receive a copy of your application, course preferences, and transcripts directly from IREX. After students are placed at Goucher, they will receive an email from Goucher requesting them to complete an "application." (This will insert your information into our campus systems). 

Further instructions about course registration, housing, immunizations, arrival and orientation will be emailed periodically prior to arrival..

Application Process

Students who are nominated by their home institutions to attend Goucher College will receive an email requesting them to complete an "application" and upload the additional documents needed to issue your immigration Form DS-2019.  There will also be instructions to complete the Academic Advising and Course Preference Form.  Please be prepared to submit the following along with your application:

  • Copy of the biographical page of your passport
  • Please download and complete, Declaration of Finances Overview Form (PDF)
  • Financial support documents
  • Proof of English language proficiency, if English is not your native language.

    Recommended:  TOEFL 80 ibt (530 ITP), IELTS 6.5 (at least 5.5 in each subsection), or Duolingo 105.

We are willing to maintain flexibility through the pandemic and act in the best interest of the students and our exchange partnership.

Financial Support

The exchange agreements vary, so please contact your home university or the Director of International Student and Scholar Services in the Office of Global Education at Goucher for the amount of financial support to be documented for immigration purposes.

* Please note that health insurance is not included in this estimate, as most exchange students obtain adequate health insurance through their study abroad offices.  The Goucher-negotiated health insurance policy is approximately $3,500 for the full year, if you choose to purchase that option.
