Summer Arts Institute Mission

The Goucher Summer Arts Institute is dedicated to providing an exciting opportunity for students to dive head first into the world of the performing arts.  The Institute is more than a camp.  It is a community of serious young performing artists developing their skills and talents.  Our pre professional programs in dance and music are regionally unique and designed to offer experienced young artists a chance to study intensively with our exceptional, professional faculty.  The Institute recognizes that every artist is an individual and we aim to meet the various aspirations of each of our students by offering the challenges they need to strengthen and refine their artistic skills.  Not only do our programs offer intense technical study, but they also provide a multi-faceted approach to learning by including history, theory, culture, and performance offerings. The Institute also provides a wonderful opportunity for prospective college students to find out more about Goucher and its dance and music majors.  The programs offer ample and rare time for a student to get to know the campus, work with college faculty, and meet current Goucher students.
