Goucher College's Employer User Policy

The Employer User Policy is established to outline the eligibility of employers to utilize resources at Goucher College's Career Development Office. The CDO follows the principles set forth by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and expects that employers who use the Center's services will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, sex, age, disability, or genetic information. By posting opportunities through the Goucher College Career Development Office you are agreeing to the following terms.

The Career Development Office reserves the right to refuse to list positions and alter or take down postings/companies that do not follow the above policy. The CDO and all employers posting through the Goucher Recruit database are expected to abide by the Principles for Professional Conduct for Career Services & Employment Professionals as outlined by NACE (http://www.naceweb.org/principles/).

THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT OFFICE EXPECTS EMPLOYERS TO ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES:

  • Comply with all federal, state, and local Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations.
  • Pay a base salary in compliance with minimum wage standards, unless categorized as an unpaid internship.
  • Keep all student information obtained confidential unless receiving additional written student consent. This standard complies with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Comply with the NACE Internship Principles regarding unpaid internships. (http://www.naceweb.org/connections/advocacy/internship_position_paper/
  • Comply with "for profit" private sector employer standards regarding unpaid internships as set by the Fair Labor Standards Act: http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.pdf
  • Supply current contact information including organization name, address, contact person, email address, organization description, pay rate (if applicable), and detailed description of position.
  • Employers are not able to offer "academic credit" as compensation or benefits for an internship due to the fact that Goucher students are responsible for the credit hours they receive.

POSITIONS THAT WILL NOT BE POSTED

  • Commission only positions
  • Positions requiring a prospective employee to purchase products
  • Companies utilizing a "pyramid" or "multi-level" networking structure, or those encouraging the recruitment of others to increase sales initiatives
  • Opportunities requiring solicitation on campus
  • Internships that lack consistent and/or direct supervision
  • Campus ambassador type positions (As our campus does not allow for flyers or solicitation, we are unable to post campus ambassador type positions since students would be unable to fill the required work duties.)

The Career Development Office also requires that all unpaid internships not exceed 20% administrative duties.

THIRD PARTY RECRUITERS & RECRUITMENT PROCESS OUTSOURCING(RPO) PROVIDERS

Third Party Recruiters are able to post through the CDO's Goucher Recruit database under the following circumstances:

  • Disclose client company
  • Keep all student information obtained confidential unless receiving additional written student consent. This standard complies with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Do not retain any student resumes for future placement unless given additional written student consent.
