Prior to creating The Pocket Anthropologist, Robbie taught Consumer Anthropology and Introduction to Anthropology as an adjunct professor at Goucher. Robbie and his wife Belinda (also an anthropologist and lecturer at Goucher) are co-founders of Context-Based Research Group, an ethnographic research and consulting firm that has worked with Google, Adobe, Nike, Microsoft and many others. Robbie and Belinda did their dissertation research in Papua New Guinea, living with a semi-nomadic group of hunter-gatherer gardeners. Robbie studied ideas of ownership and Belinda examined notions of modernity. Robbie, Belinda and their two children (Shayna and Max) reside just a few miles south of Goucher campus – and you might just catch Robbie playing his ukulele while driving to school -- well at least while waiting for red lights to turn green.
