Students may elect a minor in peace studies in combination with any major such as education; history; psychology; religion; women, gender, and sexuality studies; the sciences; communications; or sociology. The minor is a valuable complement for any major field because the broad range of skills and attitudes involved-attentive listening, interaction with and respect for others, cooperation, responsibility, negotiation, political engagement-are essential for quality personal, vocational, and civic lives.
Twenty-four credit hours (seven courses) are required for the minor in peace studies, as follows:
- PCE 110
- PCE 124 or PCE 148
- Three 200-level courses
- One 300-level course
- The capstone course
