Goucher's study abroad requirement requires that you study abroad at some point in your Goucher career. If you choose to do a short-term program, you have two options: You can study abroad in a Goucher-sanctioned program or you may study abroad on a program offered through another institution, as long as it's approved by Goucher.
Goucher Summer Programs
Summer short-term study abroad programs differ from Intensive Courses Abroad in that Goucher's program partners sponsor the programs. Short term programs, offered during the summer, are not led by Goucher faculty, but have been reviewed and approved by Goucher's academic departments. Goucher offers several short-term options outside of ICAs for the summer and winter. Because Goucher offers many Intensive Courses Abroad during the summer and winter, this list is very limited. Remember to take a look at Goucher's Intensive Courses Abroad (ICAs).
Non-Goucher Summer and Winter Programs
The Office of International Studies recognizes that Goucher-sponsored study abroad programs may not meet the individual academic, social, and cultural preferences or needs of all students. With this understanding, Goucher allows students to participate in short-term non-Goucher programs that OIS has reviewed and approved for transfer credit.
Non-Goucher short-term programs must be approved through OIS and students must apply through OIS as well as directly with the program provider in order to receive Goucher credit. For more information, please attend walk in advising in OIS.
Pay attention to deadlines! Please check our Deadlines and Events page for dates and times of information sessions for these and other study abroad programs. Contact Jennifer White, Advisor for Short-Term Programs, to schedule an advising appointment and receive an application.
