Spanish Studies Abroad students in Alicante study onsite at Universidad de Alicante (UA). Though established in 1979, UA was founded to carry on the traditions of the University of Orihuela (1545-1834). As the fastest-growing university in Spain, with an enrollment of 33,000, the UA is dedicated to its mission to cultivate students' academic and professional skills, while developing critical thinking and social awareness. In addition to its academics, UA prides itself on its beautiful modern campus of innovative architecture and wide green spaces.
Along with the resources provided by UA, Spanish Studies Abroad students benefit from having an on-site Resident Director who teaches the Spanish Studies Abroad cultural integration course Social Realities of Spain assists students with cultural and logistical challenges of studying abroad, and organizes Spanish Studies Abroad site visits and events.

Through university coursework, homestays with native families, and multiple cross-cultural opportunities, students will find Spanish Studies Abroad in Alicante to be a highly immersive and integrated study abroad experience. Universidad de Alicante is one of the most beautiful campuses in Spain. Located twenty minutes outside the city's center and from the coast, it is a great location to take classes and become immersed in local alicantino culture. This program is for Spanish majors or Business Management majors.
For Business Management majors Spanish Studies Abroad, in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universidad de Alicante (UA), offers business courses taught in English. Over 200 international students participate in this program each year and enjoy an intercultural experience involving people from all over the world. In addition to a unique Spanish Studies Language and Culture component, students take the majority of their classes in English and attend these courses alongside other international students studying business at UA.

Eligibility and Prerequisites
Students must have declared a major and taken prerequisite courses. Students must have completed three semesters in college-level residence.
Spanish majors and minors must have completed SP 235 or the equivalent, and an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply and a 3.0 GPA in Spanish Language.
Business Management majors need to have completed Beginning Spanish. Two years of high school Spanish/one year of elementary college Spanish or the equivalent. Minimum 3.0 in overall GPA and in Spanish coursework required; exceptions may be made with strong recommendations from faculty
