This 8-credit course can satisfy the study-abroad, lab science and modern-language requirements at Goucher!
During the spring semester, you will enroll in a cross-listed course (AST 110G/SP 130G or SP 238G) that will meet four times a week, fulfilling the equivalent of two-credit hourse each of Astronomy 110 and Spanish (130G or 238G). The remaining four-credit hours will be completed in Granada, Spain, a city known for its rich Spanish culture and astronomical history. You will live and dine with host families located throughout the city, and meet and study with students from all over the world. In addition to the astronomy and Spanish-language lessons, the course will include field trips to many internationally-known historical sites (The Alhambra, Cordoba, Sacromonte, etc.), cultural events (Corpus Cristi, Flamenco shows) as well as a weekend retreat to a mountain resort for dark-sky observations.
Eligibility and Prerequisites:
Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be currently enrolled in SP 120 or test into SP 130 to be eligible for SP 130G. Students who have already completed the study-abroad and lab-science (except AST 110G) requirements still apply.
