Its art, architecture, music, theater, and dance offer a dramatic reflection of the nation's intricate cultural mosaic. This program studies the visual and performing arts of India-its architecture, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, film, dance, music, and drama-in historic and contemporary contexts. Students are challenged to consider the relationship between religion, art, and identity and emerge with an appreciation of India as a center of Asian civilization, rather than a stereotypical nation beset by problems of the developing world. 

Sustainable Development and Social Change in Jaipur

This program examines the diverse factors, internal and global, that have shaped India's past, present, and future development strategies. Students gain foundational knowledge in topics of study that include: political trends and a pluralist state; caste, class, gender, and religion in India; colonial rule and Gandhi; the economy of New India and global governance; urban and rural challenges; climate change and development; alternative modes of development; as well as agents of change, including government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, corporations, community based organizations, and civil society.
