I spent three weeks in France during the summer of 2013 and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. I was able to see parts of France that I never would have known about on my own, meet people from all different walks of life, and see a variety of spectacular theatrical productions. We spent the first week in Avignon going on hikes, taking a gourmet cooking class with professional French chefs, going to a wine tasting, and spending time with our host families. While the prospect of living with a host family intimidated me at first, they were so friendly and helpful. I was able to learn so much more about French culture and language by having the opportunity to speak and interact with my hosts every day. In Marseille, we stayed with students from the theatre conservatory and got the chance to see the city through their eyes. We went to museums, saw a performance by a visiting theatre group from Morocco, went to a chorus class with the conservatory students, and explored the many different sights around the city. Our last week in Paris was a really great way to end the trip. We saw a spectacular play at the Comédie-Française, went to the Louvre, ate amazing French food, and took an acting class with a French actress. The trip was truly an amazing experience and I am so glad that I went. It was such a unique experience because I would have never had the chance to see the performances I saw or meet all of the different people I met had it not been for this incredible trip. It was a great immersive way to get to know France, and I can't wait to go back again soon!
