Pyroelectric Crystals as Electrostatic Accelerators

Abstract

Pyroelectric Crystals have the unique property of creating electricity when they are heated. When heating up, charge builds on two faces of a pyroelectric. These static surface charges can be used to accelerate other charged particles. In this research we theoretically explore how different configurations of pyroelectric crystals, such as crystal dimensions and number of crystals used, accelerate electrons. In doing this we have constructed an effective and efficient design for a pryoelectric crystal accelerator.
