The Goucher Summer Science Research Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to work closely with faculty members on research projects. In addition to the opportunity to conduct research on-campus, students also have the opportunity to present their research findings to students and faculty from colleges and universities in the NCAA Division III Landmark Conference. The Landmark Conference is an intercollegiate athletics conference established in 2006 to bring together schools with strong academic programs. Landmark Conference members are Catholic University, Drew University, Goucher, Juniata, Moravian, Susquehanna, Scranton, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
For the past 5 years, students from Goucher College have participated in the Landmark Conference's Summer Research Symposium. In 2011, Goucher College hosted the Third Annual Landmark Conference Summer Research Symposium.
Below are the summer research projected completed by Goucher College students during Summer 2013. The research projects represent work from a variety of departments, including biological sciences, biochemistry and molecular biology, chemistry, economics, environmental studies, physics and psychology. A number of the projects were interdisciplinary in collaboration and focus, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of a Goucher College educational experience. In total, 23 students completed summer research projects with faculty members in 2013.
