Education

B.A. in Government/International Relations from the University of Notre Dame.
M.Sc. in Environmental Geography from the University of Toronto.
Ph.D. in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University.


Areas of Scholarly Expertise and Interest

Elizabeth L. Chalecki is the Visiting Mellon Asst. Professor of Environmental Studies at Goucher College.  Her areas of expertise and interest include environmental security, international environmental politics, non-traditional security threat analysis, science and international relations, and environment and science in the media.  Dr. Chalecki has taught environmental politics and international relations at Boston College, Boston University, and Cal State - Hayward.  She was also the Environment & Security Analyst at the Pacific Institute for Studies in Development, Environment, and Security.  Dr. Chalecki has published over 20 books, book chapters, and articles on diverse topics such as environmental security, climate change and the Arctic, environmental terrorism, climate change and international law, public perceptions of environmental issues, and water in outer space.  She has worked for Environment Canada, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Brookings Institution.
