During her semester at in the Sunshine Coast of Australia, Elena Goldsborough '15, was "able to see clearly that environmental studies is a broad field that I will consistently be attempting to master from every facet of my life."
Goldsborough enjoyed the globalized perspective of environmental issues she gained while abroad. With a group of other international students, she was able to learn how many "different areas of our world face common environmental challenges to creating global sustainability." She also became conscious of the interconnectedness of our actions: "everything affects the system of sustainability," she observed.
Through interdisciplinary classes on sustainability, indigenous cultures, and international law, Goldsborough studied the environment from several perspectives and also relished "some of the natural-made wonders Australia, like Little Blue Penguins waddling on to shore at dusk, that helped me fully appreciate why I care so much about our planet."
