Senior Independent Study Concert

Release date: May 04, 2012

On May 4 and 5 Goucher Dance will present two nights of original work created by senior dance majors Eleanor Jones, Elizabeth Purcell, Ani Sipos, Sarah Soule, Lucy Wild, and Marah Wilson in Independent Studies in Choreography.

The Friday evening performance at 8 p.m. will feature the work of Elizabeth Purcell, Lucy Wild, and Marah Wilson.

Inspired by her time at Accademia dell'Arte in Italy, Lizzy's work draws from her personal experiences, and the personal experiences of her dancers. She is working collaboratively to create a work based on various relationships in life and how those relationships evolve and change.

Through Lucy and Marah's collaboration as choreographers, with dancers, musicians, costume designers, and writers, they have sculpted and unraveled. This independent study explores stories of our characterizations and a world to be found. Join them as they stretch the boundaries of their artisitc and human experiences with live music and dance.

Saturday's evening performance at 7:30 p.m. will feature the Independent Studies of Eleanor Jones, Ani Sipos, and Sarah Soule.

Ellie will be showing an excerpt from her full-length independent study concert, "Residue of a Meandering Mind."

Sarah's independent study is a solo about the struggle to break free of anything holding you down--grief, inhibitions, social norms. She is leaving it open to the audience to interpret. She also plays with dynamics to emphasize the contrasts between feeling trapped and feeling free.

Admission is free.  Tickets available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
