Modern Guest Artist in Residence: Nicholas Leichter

Nicholas Leichter will be in residence to teach master classes and set a work on Goucher dancers for the Goucher Repertory Dance Ensemble Fall Concert.
Nicholas Leichter has taught throughout the US and at festivals in Eastern and Western Europe, Asia, and Canada. He has been on faculty at Tisch School of the Arts, Sarah Lawrence College, NYU's Experimental Theater Wing and ADF in Durham, NC, New York, Russia, Korea, and Shanghai. He adjudicates regularly for the American College Festival Association (ACDFA). Leichter has created over 30 works for his own company including CarminaBurana and Rite of Spring commissioned by the Brooklyn Philharmonic, Sweetwash with Eisa Davis, commissioned by the Duncan Theater, Killa with Monstah Black for The Joyce Theater, and The Whiz with Monstah Black, a co-production of Dancenow/NYC and Abrons Arts Center with funding from the National Dance Project. He has been artist-in-residence/guest artist at many institutions including CSU Fresno, Hollins University, Muhlenberg College, and University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Leichter received the 2006 MariamMcGlone Emerging Choreographer Award from Wesleyan University. In 2008 he received a Choreographer Fellowship from NYFA and a National Performance Network/Network of Cultural Centers of Color Artist-of-Color Residency Award at Sacramento State. He received the 2009 Copperfoot Award for Choreography from Wayne State University. Leichter is on the artist board of Dance Theater Workshop. www.nldnyc.org
Mr. Leichter will teach modern classes and set a work on Goucher dancers for the Goucher Repertory Dance Ensemble Fall Concert. Master classes are open to high-intermediate and advanced modern dancers.
