Dr. Rhoda M. Dorsey was known-and beloved-for her devotion to Goucher, her belief in rigorous academics, and her determination to see both the college and its students succeed. She served Goucher faithfully for 40 years, beginning as an assistant professor of history and concluding as its longest continuously serving president.

Whether teaching geography through her trademark "blindfold test" or volunteering in the college archives for many years after her retirement, Rhoda Dorsey touched the lives of thousands and left her mark on Goucher in indelible ways. Sometimes known as the president who guided Goucher through the difficult transition to co-education, she was a woman of remarkable strength, intelligence, and kindness.

How do you remember Rhoda? Alumnae/i, faculty, staff, colleagues, and friends-please share your favorite memory of this extraordinary Goucher treasure.

Contributions in memory of Dr. Dorsey, and in honor of her impact on Goucher College and its students, can be made to the Rhoda M. Dorsey Scholarship, an endowed fund that supports need-based financial aid for undergraduates.  To make a gift, please visit the scholarship donation page.
