Update on Presidential Search
Release date: November 06, 2013
Dear Goucher College Community Members:
I am pleased to report that the Presidential Search Committee has concluded the first phase of its work and now will be entering the screening phase of recruitment. Last month we invited opinions from the entire Goucher community through a survey on the college's priorities and the characteristics desired in our next president. The committee was pleased that so many community members responded with thoughtful and helpful comments. We are preparing a summary of the findings and will post it on the Goucher presidential search website as soon as it is complete.
The committee has developed a Goucher presidential search profile that will introduce potential candidates to the college. The information provided during the campus listening sessions was invaluable in making sure that the profile offers potential candidates a description of institutional opportunities and challenges and conveys what our community needs in a new president. The profile is posted on the website for all community members to read.
We were delighted that Joey Fink '15, the student member on the search committee, accepted our invitation to provide a video welcome message to candidates. Joey did a great job describing what makes Goucher special. We hope you will take the time to view the video, now available on the website.
Over the next several months, we will be reviewing applications and researching the backgrounds of what we hope will be a diverse and well-qualified pool of candidates. As you can understand, all committee members must maintain strict confidentiality during this next phase of the process to ensure the integrity of the search. Please know that even if you don't hear from us, we will be hard at work in the search for Goucher's next leader.
We look forward to sharing more information with you in mid-winter when we announce the dates and times for the on-campus interviews with the final candidates. In the meantime, thank you for your continued support and interest in this important process.
Becki Kurdle '61
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
