Update on Presidential Search

Release date: October 09, 2013

Dear Members of the Goucher College Community,

I am pleased to share with you the most recent developments on the presidential search.

As you know, one of the committee’s first priorities has been to seek guidance and input from the many constituencies who have a stake in Goucher’s future. On October 2-4, the search firm Witt/Kieffer held both open forums and individual meetings with faculty, staff, students, parents, trustees, and alumnae/i. I want to thank everyone who participated in the sessions for providing such valuable and instructive feedback.

The next step in the process is to send out a wide-reaching survey to members of the Goucher community. You will receive the survey within the next 10 days. I urge you to take the time to fill out the anonymous questionnaire and share your thoughts about Goucher, our priorities for the future, and the attributes a new president should possess.

Based on the information received from the on-campus meetings and survey, we will send around a summary of the data and begin to prepare a description of institutional opportunities and challenges for the next president, as well as a statement of desired characteristics needed for the job. The search process then will move to the active solicitation of candidates.

We will continue to keep you updated on the committee’s progress in the months ahead. Thank you again for your support of Goucher and for your help in selecting the college's next president.
