Dear Family of a New Student,
August will be here sooner than you think! I'm looking forward to meeting you and your student and becoming integrated into the Goucher community together. The staff and faculty I've gotten to know here are passionate. We're ready to teach your student and help him or her through four years of discovery and achievement, with hard work— and, to be honest—some play, too.
Whether this is your first student off to college, or you already have a student on campus, we know a lot of questions can come up, and we want to support both of you the best we can. In this parent newsletter, we cover Financial Aid and Billing, Health and Counseling Services, and the transition process (with some thoughts from Vice President and Dean of Students Bryan Coker). Later this month, we'll be sending out a second note detailing technology requirements, campus safety, community living, the academic schedule, Orientation, and all things Towson.
Saying goodbye to your student can be tough. But, I assure you, he or she is in capable hands. During the next four years, your student will challenge assumptions, find a voice, and graduate ready to take on the world. Future employers will prize the critical thinking skills, creative reasoning, and global perspective your student will have acquired here. I look forward on working toward that together.
