In an effort to fulfill Goucher's commitment to environmental sustainability, President Sanford Ungar has created an official environmental advisory council, consisting of students, faculty, and staff members, known as GESAC (Goucher Environmental Sustainability Advisory Council).

This council meets at least three times a semester and advises the president and administration on environmental issues and policies. The council also researches and explores solutions to environmental issues raised by members of the Goucher community and reports its findings to the president.  It helps to implement campus environmental programs and monitors the college's progress in fulfilling the requirements of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment.
