The Goucher College Library has a number of guidelines for members of the greater community. Please take a minute to read the library access guidelines. For more information or to browse the Goucher collections, visit the Library's homepage.
Click on the headings below to learn more about each option.
Entry into the Athenaeum building, and therefore the library, is allowed between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily.
More limited access hours may occur at other times; please call 410-337-6360 to double-check.
The library’s collections are available to all for in-library use. The library’s microfilm collection and readers (that produce free print-outs) are also available to everyone.
Non-Goucher users may borrow materials if they register as a “Community Borrower” ($50 fee) or qualify as a reciprocal borrower through our BALC or other college agreements. Borrowed items are due back in 28 days; one renewal permitted.
Both the DVD/VHS collection and the Inter-Library Loan service are only available to Goucher students, faculty, and staff.
The library’s computers may be used by all individuals who obtain the guest password from the service desk (the password is changed daily). If staff detect inappropriate usage – e.g., business applications – or there is a shortage of library computers, visitors may be asked to log off.
Goucher’s visitor network provides wireless access for visitors and Goucher users alike who wish to access the web through a laptop or mobile device.
While on campus, non-Goucher users have full access to the library’s databases. Remote access to the databases is not possible. However web resources such as the catalog, are public websites and are accessible from anywhere.
Community users may purchase a copy card at the service desk to make photocopies on our machines. (The machines do not accept cash.)
Printing, scanning and faxing privileges are limited to Goucher students, faculty, and staff.
Goucher librarians at the reference desk may be available to provide research assistance, with the understanding that the needs of Goucher community members are prioritized, and that the extent of assistance provided is at the discretion of the librarian.
Only Goucher students, faculty, and staff may reserve library rooms. Community members are welcome to occupy any of our rooms if found empty. However, community members may be asked to vacate said room, subject to Goucher student/staff/faculty needs.
