Tower classes are based on the matwork, but add springs to challenge and strengthen.   Clients often find that the apparatus work given in tower classes allow them to go deeper into their Powerhouses to gain more strength and stretch.  Springs can give resistance or support to change the emphasis of an exercise.  Try our tower class session and see how it makes a difference in your regular mat workout!

Tower Mat Classes

Studio Policies:

Students must have previously completed a level two mat class session before registering for a beginner tower class; a level three mat class must have been completed before registering for an intermediate tower class and a level 4 mat class must be completed before registering for an advanced tower class.

Attendance and Lateness
To prevent injuries, the center does not allow students to take class if they arrive five (5) or more minutes after instruction has begun, although they may observe the class.  Make-ups can be scheduled by contacting The Pilates Center if there are openings available.  Make up tower classes are not guaranteed.  You may also make up ONE tower class with TWO regular mat classes, during the session, at your level or below. Makeups are not transferable.

All clients are required to wear socks on their feet. Otherwise, we suggest that you wear workout clothing in which you can move freely and comfortably. If you choose to wear shorts, please wear long ones.

Inclement Weather

We follow the closings and delayed openings of Goucher College.  An alert will be placed on Goucher's mainpage: to announce a closing or time at which the college will open.  For example, if the college opens at 10am, the 8:15 and 9:15am mat classes will be canceled.  If in doubt, please call 410-337-6469 ext.7. (All private lessons must be canceled when the college is closed).

Security / OneCards

  • Please lock your valuables in the locker provided for you. You must bring your own lock. Goucher College and The Pilates Center is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
  • OneCards will be distributed for evening and weekend building access. A replacement fee for a lost card may be charged.

Withdrawals, Refunds, and Credits
Any student who withdraws before the first class will be given a credit or a refund, less a $25 processing fee. Refunds cannot be given after the first class, but credits can be issued upon date of client notification. A credit can be applied only to the next session and is subject to a $25 fee.

Pilates clients must park in the Sports and Recreation Center (SRC) visitor's lot. Parking in the faculty/staff lot may result in a ticket, boot, or towing at the client's expense.
