New Students
All new students should register for a Level 1 Mat class. If you wish to be evaluated or have questions about your specific placement, please call (410) 337-6399 or e-mail PilatesCenter@goucher.edu.
Studio Policies:
Attendance and Registration
Each mat class will contain at least 5 and no more than 15 students; registration is required. To prevent injuries, the center does not allow students to take class if they arrive five (5) or more minutes after instruction has begun, although they may observe the class.
Attire
All clients are required to wear socks on their feet. Otherwise, we suggest that you wear workout clothing in which you can move freely and comfortably. If you choose to wear shorts, please wear long ones.
Inclement Weather
Weather-related delays and cancellations are linked to those of the Baltimore County Public Schools.When schools close due to bad weather, all mat classes will be canceled.When schools post a two-hour delay, the 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. mat class will be canceled, but any mat class scheduled to begin at or after 10:00 a.m. will meet. When schools post a one-hour delay, the 8 a.m. mat class will be cancelled. If in doubt, please call 410-337-6469 ext.7. (If you are scheduled to take a private class, call your instructor at 410-337- 6531). Our 24 hour cancellation policy will still be in effect.
Make-Up Classes
Missed mat classes can be made up on a first-come, first-served basis—you need not call. Make-ups must be completed by the end of the session and must be classes at your level or lower. Makeups are not transferable.
Placement
Instructors will determine each student's fitness level and whether he or she is ready to progress. All new students should register for a Level 1 mat class.
Security / OneCards
- Please lock your valuables in the locker provided for you. You must bring your own lock. Goucher College and The Pilates Center is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
- OneCards will be distributed for evening and weekend building access. A replacement fee for a lost card may be charged.
Any student who withdraws before the first class will be given a credit or a refund, less a $25 processing fee. Refunds cannot be given after the first class, but credits can be issued upon date of client notification. A credit can be applied only to the next session and is subject to a $25 fee.
Parking
Pilates clients must park in the Sports and Recreation Center (SRC) visitor's lot. Parking in the faculty/staff lot may result in a ticket, boot, or towing at the client's expense.
Drop-in Policy
At this time, each student must be registered and paid in full by the beginning of each mat class session. We cannot accomodated drop-in payments for class at this time. A second or third mat class may be added at any time during the session, requiring payment for the entire remainder of the session.
Courtesy Notes
Please note:
- No food/drinks
- No children in the studio
- Remove shoes
- Turn off cell phones
- No recording of classes
- Please change clothing in the locker room
Private Apparatus Classes
Private instruction is also available, by appointment, for Beginner through Advanced levels. Lessons are tailored to each individual’s specific needs and level of fitness and allow each client to progress at his or her own pace while providing total body conditioning. Appointments
Anyone who wants to take a private apparatus class must make an appointment before registering; please call 410-337-6469.
Cancellations
A client who cancels a private apparatus class must give at least 24 hours notice; otherwise, he or she will be charged for the class. Neither credits nor refunds are given for missed classes. If a student is late for class, he or she will be charged for the entire session, and the instructor will determine whether the remaining time is sufficient to conduct the session.
Class Cards
Each private client is required to purchase a class card prior to his or her session. Class cards are the equivalent of a cash voucher. At each visit, the appropriate charges will be subtracted from the balance. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, the appropriate fee will be deducted from your card. Class cards are not transferable and expire after 12 consecutive weeks of non-use.
