Goucher Recognizes Veteran's Day

Release date: November 10, 2009 |

Members of the Goucher Community will have two opportunities tomorrow (November 11) to gather and commemorate Veterans Day.

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life will sponsor a brief ceremony of prayers and music to honor veterans at 11:15 a.m. in Merrick Auditorium. (This will take place in between the health care open enrollment sessions.)

Tomorrow evening, join Danielle DeGarmo ‘12 and fellow students as they honor veterans of the United States Armed Forces with a  flag-folding lesson and ceremony.  At 6:50 p.m., they will proceed from the Haebler Chapel to the Dorsey Center Courtyard carrying the U.S. flag.  Several students will lead prayers for U.S. troops and veterans.  Other students, staff, and faculty members are invited to add their own stories, prayers, songs, or poetry that honor veterans.  This ceremony, co-sponsored by Goucher Republicans & Libertarians and Goucher Democrats, will conclude at about 7:30 p.m., in time for the Robert Kennedy, Jr. lecture, which takes place in Kraushaar Auditorium at 8:00 p.m.
