Goucher College’s Department of Biology is presenting “Food for Thought,” a discussion on issues related to genetically engineered food, on Thursday, November 12, 7-9 p.m. in the Batza Room of the Athenaeum.
The panel leading the discussion will be composed of students from BIO 387: Seminar in Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and Norman Zwagil, general manager of the Bon Appétit Management Company, Goucher’s environmentally responsible food services provider.
Faculty and students from all departments are invited, and staff are also welcome.
Some topics that will be covered are how genetically engineered foods are made, distributed, labeled, and regulated. Participants will also discuss the environmental sustainability of genetically engineered crops, the safety of these products, and the genetic traits they exhibit.
