Copyright, Digital reproductions, and Terms of Use

Providing digital reproductions on this website does not constitute permission to publish or reproduce images.

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United Staes Code) governs the making of reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law (Section 108), libraries and archives are authorized to furnish reproductions of materials they hold. One of the specified conditions is that the reproduction is not be be used "for any other purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research."

Material on this website may be reproduced by individuals for personal use, research, and training. This website may also be linked to other websites. Please make appropriate acknowledgements such as collection title and Goucher College Library. 

 

Intent to Publish

In order to publish any materials (images or content) from the Goucher College Library including our website, please follow these guidelines:

1) Complete an "Intent to Publish Form." This form must be approved by Goucher College. Forms may be requested from the Special Collections librarian, Tara Olivero, at tara.olivero@goucher.edu.

2) It is the responsibility of the requestor to obtain any required copyright permissions from the copyright holder, which is some instances may be Goucher College, but may often be a third party.

3) Goucher College may assess a fee for use of materials from its collections for publication. Fees are determined on a case-by-case basis and are intended to offset a small part of the College's costs associated with processing, preserving, and servicing its collections.
