Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Goucher College Library are alumnae/i, faculty, students, staff of the library and others who all enjoy a common bond: a passion for communicating the importance of the library within the intellectual setting of Goucher College.

The purpose of the Friends of the Goucher College Library is to generate goodwill and financial support for the Library, as well as to promote the role of the Library within the college community. To accomplish these aims, the Friends present a variety of programs and events, strive for increased membership, serve as advocates for the library, and provide the library with direct financial support for special purposes.

The Friends provide financial support to the library in times of great change for:

  • Unique opportunities to expand the archives through the purchases of special items such as the collection of Round Robin Letters from the class of 1903.
  • State-of-the-art equipment upgrades.
  • Extraordinary collection needs such as The Dictionary of Art (Grove Press, 34 volumes)

The Friends promote the library through special events and symposia.
