Disability Accomodations

  • General Assistance

If you are disabled, please stop at the Service Desk in the Library and let us know how we may assist you.

  • Wheelchair Accessibility

Passenger drop-off: Enter through the main gate and proceed straight through the Goucher welcome booth.  When the road divides, bear left and drive to the gated driveway on your right.  Buzz there to gain admittance to the Forum level entrance of the Athenaeum/library.

Parking. There are two handicapped parking spaces near the forum level entrance.  More parking is available at the Alumni/ae House lot.

Doors. Library entrances are equipped with buttons to open doors.

Elevators. To gain access to the nearest elevator on the Forum level entrance, go straight from the entrance, past the stage, and turn left. The main Athenaeum elevator is on the left side of the corridor ahead.

There is also an elevator providing access to the library stacks and services. Go into the library at the main entry/Information Commons level, and turn right. The elevator is on your left.

Handicap-accessible restrooms are located on all floors, on the main entrance side of the building.   Floor maps are available to see specific directions.

  • Equipment for the Visually Impaired

The library offers the use of a computer with Kurzweil software to enhance research for the visually impaired. This computer is located in a  private space in the library. It may be used during regular library hours.  For more information, please contact:  Randy Smith  (410-337-6365).
