The C.I. Winslow Collection includes the personal papers of Dr. C.I. Winslow as well as his significant collection of political Americana. A longtime political science professor, political activist, and community leader, Winslow taught at Goucher College from 1923 to 1965. He chaired the political science department from 1926 to 1958 and the College Planning Committee, an organization with significant investment in the development and layout of the new Goucher county campus in the 1930s and 1940s. Winslow was considered to be an outstanding authority on state legislatures and legislative committees as well as Maryland constitutional issues.
The personal papers (1918-1978) include articles, essays, correspondence, reports, and other records documenting Winslow’s career and civic activities. They include a rich collection of political commentaries, records from the Citizens League of Baltimore, and the 1967 Maryland Constitutional Convention for which Clinton was a delegate.
The political Americana includes buttons, pins, ballots, ribbons and other artifacts of the U.S. electoral process from the 1840s to the 1980s.
