Now in its 14th year, the Goucher College Innovation Grants Committee announces $10,000 in funding available for Spring 2012 for use by students, faculty, and staff. The sole purpose of the Innovation Grant Fund is to sponsor new and imaginative campus projects.
WHO CAN APPLY?
All members of the campus community are equally eligible to participate-students, staff, and faculty. Joint initiatives are encouraged.
WHAT TO DO?
Complete a simple, user-friendly, four-page proposal form. Be prepared to explain how your project specifically fits with the college's strategic priorities.
WHEN TO DO IT?
Now. The deadline is Friday, March 9, 2012. Send proposals in electronic form to Wendy Belzer Litzke at wendy.litzke@goucher.edu. The committee will announce awards in early April.
WHOM TO CALL OR E-MAIL WITH QUESTIONS?
Wendy Belzer Litzke in the President’s Office (x6042), wendy.litzke@goucher.edu.
WHAT IDEAS GET FUNDED?
All kinds of ideas are funded. Your proposal should be innovative and support the strategic goals of the college. Past projects include a program to support academics in the Baltimore City public schools, a faculty/staff yoga program, and a clean stream project on our campus.
WHAT IDEAS DON'T GET FUNDED?
Proposals that request travel funds for students to present at conferences or for student research purposes. (You can request these funds through the Provost's Office.)
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF GETTING A GRANT?
The committee usually approves approximately a third to half of the grant requests. Out of the initiatives not chosen, there are often many good ideas that may warrant approval after further development and refinement.
WHAT ARE THE AVERAGE AMOUNTS AWARDED?
The range of grants has been between $250 and $5,000. The typical project is awarded between $1,000 and $2,000.
HOW TO APPLY?
